The Relay Modulator Valve is a modulator with integrated relay valve and is used on ABS / EBS trailers in one or more brake actuators to control the brake pressure of the vehicle. The Relay Modulator Valve functions as a regular relay valve in a truck air brake system under non-ABS conditions and speeds up brake systems by providing fast and accurate control of large quantities of air in response to an air pressure signal. However, if the ECU of the anti-lock braking system detects that a sensed wheel decelerates too rapidly and the wheel lock is imminent during braking, it sends electronic signals to that wheel controlling the Relay Modulator Valve. The modulator valve then modulates the brake force rapidly between the three "enter," "hold" and "apply" conditions. It persists until it overcomes the possibility of wheel lock. The Valve comes in single and dual relay form. As an alternative to two single valves fitted across the axle, the Dual Relay Modulator Valve can be used. The Dual Relay Modulator Valves use a single signal and supply port, with their respective modulators independently operated supply ports.
